ABOUT METTAFI

A mission born from practice.

MettaFi exists to bring commercial acumen and practical support to the “business” of Buddhist teaching — so that the people who need these teachings can find the people who can offer them.

What, how, why.

Buddhist teachers, monastics, and organisations often have precious Dharma to offer — teachings, pujas, retreats, courses, community — and yet feel averse to doing promotional and fundraising activities for a variety of reasons. The modern digital toolkit is fragmented, complicated and ever-so-impermanent (ie. changing all the time!)

MettaFi was founded to close that gap. We do this in two ways: through done-by-human marketing services that work directly with a small number of teachers and organisations, and through an emerging platform designed specifically for this community — giving teachers one integrated home for their online offerings.

Our work is guided by metta — loving-kindness — and by the recognition that modern tools can and should serve spiritual pursuits when they are built with the right motivation and care. As Buddha taught 84,000 teachings to different audiences, our unique presentation of the view and the path deserve a place in this modern world.

Founder

Zada Lau

Zada Lau is a Buddhist in business, meditation teacher, connector, and events host. She is accredited by Mingyur Rinpoche's Tergar International to teach Anytime Anywhere Meditation and is currently building her own teaching practice alongside MettaFi.

Her path to founding Mettafi came from a previous project aiming to bring financial education and investor funding to underrepresented women - an effort to bring compassion and equality to the finance space. That project stems from her longtime commitment to level the playing fields (ie. a form of equanimity), which now carries into the work she does here: bringing marketing, community building and fundraising tools to Buddhist teachers who might otherwise be overlooked.

She serves as MettaFi's first client, too — working through the challenges of being a new teacher in public is part of how MettaFi stays grounded in the real needs of the people it serves.

What we stand for.

Service before sales.

We lead by being useful. You don't need a loud salesperson, you need friends on the Path who can skilfully help your message flourish

Designed for Dharma.

Financial transparency and mindful activations that suit your version of the Dharma

Community, not customers.

The teachers, students, and organisations we work with are a sangha, not a funnel. We build communities, not conversion rates.

Let's Connect.

Do you share our motivation of spreading the Dharma where it has not arisen, and where it has arisen, help it flourish more and more? Do you have functionality you'd like to see in the Community Platform? We'd love to connect.
